Municipality of Barrington Lobster Sculptures

Lobster SculptureThe Municipality of Barrington is excited to be moving forward with the next step in the Lobster Sculptures project by having them placed in prominent locations throughout the Municipality.

The Lobster Sculpture Project was a Canada 150 initiative that saw 10 six foot tall fibreglass lobsters painted by local artists. This project has seen a lot of attention to date with hundreds of people coming to see the beautiful art work, and the lobsters have been featured on all media platforms during the South Shore Lobster Crawl event in February.

The next phase of the project will be to have the sculptures installed throughout the Municipality. Once the lobster sculptures are in position there will be a lobster trail that tourists and residents alike will be encouraged to travel to see many parts of our beautiful Municipality.

The planned locations currently include:

Baccaro Lighthouse (pending approval)
Kiack Brook
Municipal Administrative Building
BMHS
Barrington Municipal Library
Island View Park
Clark's Harbour (pending approval)
The Hawk
Shag Harbour UFO Site

For now, the tenth Lobster will be used in the VIC, and at specific community events.

For more information on the Lobster Sculptures please phone the Municipal Office at 902-637-2015.
