Chief Administrative Officer
The Municipality of the District of Barrington is seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Administrative Officer who will be instrumental in assisting the Municipality develop and achieve long term goals, while overseeing daily operations.
Located in the most southern part of Nova Scotia, the Municipality of the District of Barrington is known as the Lobster Capital of Canada, and is home to some of the most beautiful coastline in the Maritimes. The Municipality of the District of Barrington is a rural municipality that covers 631km2, and is home to approximately 7000 year round residents. Council has begun many exciting projects in the past two years including the replacement of the Recreation Building, attraction of new business/ accommodations, completion of a new Strategic Plan, and many other exciting opportunities.
The Chief Administrative Officer is accountable for all day-to-day operations, preparing and delivering the budget, staff management, and project development. The CAO will also work closely with senior staff and council to provide timely advice and recommendations as it relates to all operations of the Municipality.
The Chief Administrative Officer will have minimum qualifications that will include a university degree/ diploma in Business Administration, Public Administration or an allied field, together with a minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in a management role, preferably in a municipal environment.
