EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST INVITED
MUNICIPALITY OF BARRINGTON

 

Expressions of Interest will be received from individuals from Shelburne and Yarmouth Counties wishing to serve on the newly formed Nova Scotia Marathon Committee.

A copy of the Terms of Reference may be obtained by contacting the Municipal Office or pdf downloaded here (91 KB)

The Expression of Interest is to include experience and community involvement, together with a brief explanation as to why you wish to serve on the Committee.

Expressions of Interest must be received not later than 2:00 p.m., Monday September 17, 2018.

Water Concerns – Update 2018

Fire Departments within the Municipality of the District of Barrington are putting the following measures in place to help residents who are dealing with a lack of water due to the dry conditions that we have been facing this summer.

Woods Harbour Shag Harbour Fire Department

If you live in the Woods Harbour Shag Harbour fire coverage area they will deliver water to you.
During business hours for water call West Nova Fuels at 902-723-2455.
Call this number any time and leave a voice mail 902-635-3000 or call 902-723-0084 or text 902-635-0034
Your message must have your name, phone number and civic address.
Water will be delivered most evenings.
You must have your own container in place for us to dump the water in.
We will not dump water into a well.
When the water is delivered you must sign a waiver.
The water is NON-POTABLE. NOT FOR DRINKING.

Water at the Woods Harbour Shag Harbour Fire Hall.

A water hose is located at the hall but you must contact a member to get access.
The water is NON-POTABLE. NOT FOR DRINKING.

Island & Barrington Passage Fire Department

If you live in the Island & Barrington Passage fire coverage area they will deliver water to you.
Call this number and leave a text message or voice mail 902-635-1947.
Call this number and leave a voice mail 902-745-0228.
Your message must have your name, phone number and civic address.
Water will be delivered on Wednesdays only.
You must have your own container in place for us to dump the water in.
We will not dump water in a well.
When the water is delivered you must sign a waiver.
The water is NON-POTABLE. NOT FOR DRINKING.

Water at the Island & Barrington Passage Fire Hall.

A water hose will be left outside through the large front door on the far left.
The water is NON-POTABLE. NOT FOR DRINKING.

Barrington/Port La Tour Fire Department

If you live in the Barrington/Port La Tour fire coverage area they will deliver water to you.
Call this number and leave a text message or voice mail 902-635-4019.
Your message must have your name, phone number and civic address.
Water will be delivered on Wednesdays only.
You must have your own container in place for us to dump the water in.
We will not dump water in a well.
When the water is delivered you must sign a waiver.
The water is NON-POTABLE. NOT FOR DRINKING.

Water at the Barrington/Port La Tour Fire Hall.

A water hose will be left outside in front of the building.
The water is NON-POTABLE. NOT FOR DRINKING.

 

Clyde Area Community Centre (formerly the Port Clyde Fire Hall)

 The Centre has a hose out by the side door where residents can fill containers of water for their use . This water is non potable and not to be used for drinking.

 

Please remember that the following services are also in place for those residents who are dealing with a lack of water due to the drought:
- Showers are available at the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena - Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, at the present time.
- Washers are available for use at the Barrington Ground Search and Rescue Building, in Barrington Passage - Monday to Friday 5 pm to 9 pm
- Non-Potable water supply is available at Sherose Island. This water is not safe for drinking.
Council is seeking help from other sources to maintain a potable water supply should our situation worsen.
Council and staff would ask that you check on your friends and neighbours, especially those most vulnerable, to ensure that everyone is finding access to drinking water.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  Water Concerns - Summer of 2018

The Municipality of the District of Barrington has heard from several residents who are dealing with a lack of water due to the dry conditions that we have been facing this summer. Although the Municipality does not provide or have access to, a registered water source, arrangements have been made to provide the following to assist those in need:

- Showers are available at the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena - Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, at the present time.

- Washers will be available for use, effective August 20, 2018, at the Barrington Ground Search and Rescue Building, in Barrington Passage - Monday to Friday 5 pm to 9 pm

- Non-Potable water supply is available at Sherose Island.  This water is not safe for drinking.

Council is seeking help from other sources to maintain a potable water supply should our situation worsen.

Council and staff would ask that you check on your friends and neighbours, especially those most vulnerable, to ensure that everyone is finding access to drinking water.
