Volunteer Week

Volunteer Week will be celebrated throughout Nova Scotia during the week of April 23 to 29th. The primary purpose of this specially designed week is to thank and honour people who donate their time to help fellow citizens and support the causes in which they believe. Volunteer Week also serves to reinforce the human values in which that volunteering represents and increases awareness of the importance of volunteerism to our communities.

The Barrington Municipal Recreation Department is encouraging you to nominate one individual (can be a couple) from your community group, who you believe is deserving of being recognized. pdf You can print the nomination form here (17 KB) .

When filling out the nomination form, please list past and present volunteer work that your nominee has done. Please be as thorough as you can, as the information you provide will be read at our Municipal Volunteer Recognition Ceremony and Banquet.

To ensure your nominee will be considered for the Provincial Volunteer Representative, please return your nomination form to the Recreation Department by Friday, February 3rd. The Municipal Council will select one individual from all nominees received. This volunteer will be invited to attend the Provincial Volunteer Award Ceremony and Banquet in Halifax, on April 18th.

Any nominations received after February 3rd, will still be included for invitation and recognition at the Municipal Volunteer Recognition Ceremony and Banquet, but must be submitted by March 31st, 2017. All nominees will be notified by the Recreation Department about the local ceremony and banquet. If you have any questions in regard to this event, please contact the Recreation Director at 902-637-2903/902-637-2760 or at This email address is being protected from spambots.
