Survey on Housing Needs Now Open

The government of Nova Scotia is asking Nova Scotians to provide feedback on housing needs.

An online survey, which opened today, October 3, is part of a provincewide housing needs assessment that will help identify gaps in current and projected housing requirements and guide future housing policy and initiatives.

The survey will remain open until December 4 and is available at: https://www.nshousingneeds.ca/.

Arena Review

We're reviewing the operation and physical infrastructure of the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena. The Arena is a hub of our community, and most residents have fond memories of sports and events there.

On Thursday, July 28th, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm, we're hosting an open house with the consultant leading the review. During this meeting, they will present an overview of the results of a community survey underway now, as well as gather thoughts and opinions on what the community likes about the Arena, as well as suggestions around how it can be improved.

Your opinion matters, and we hope you will take the time to complete the survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BarringtonArenaSurvey and if you can, come to the open house.

If you are planning to attend the open house, please email or call 902-637-2015 to let us know you are coming. The purpose is to allow us to better plan for the open house.

C&D Site Scale Replacement

On Monday, June 6, work will begin on the installation of a new weight scale at our C&D Site (landfill). We anticipate this work to take 1-2 weeks.

During this time, we will not be accepting any disposal of demolitions, disposal of non-sorted material or disposal from non-residents as we will not have access to a scale and the entrance to our site will be congested.

Our goal is to keep the site open for general use by our residents however, we may at some point be forced to close the site completely for a short period of time. If this is required, we will provide notice to the public as soon as possible.

We ask that you use caution if you plan to visit the beach and we apologize for any inconveniences this work may cause.

Meeting Schedule Change

Beginning in May, all Committee of the Whole and Regular Council meetings will be held on Tuesdays instead of Mondays. This change was made at Monday night's Regular Council meeting, after the approval of an amendment to both our Council Meetings and Proceedings and Committees of Council policies.

All meeting times, agendas and supporting documents will continue to be posted on our website at https://bit.ly/3cMwSpJ.
