FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Water Concerns – September 18, 2018 Update

As more days pass without any amount of rain the Municipality of the District of Barrington has added additional resources and options for those that are affected by a lack of water.

Drinking Water – The Province has sent a supply of bottled water to the Municipality. Water can be picked up at the Ground Search and Rescue building (3329 Highway 3, Barrington Passage), Monday to Friday 5PM – 9PM. There is a limit of one case per household.

A water tanker located at TL Swaine’s Garage in Barrington Passage has been sent by the Province to the Municipality. The fire departments will use this non-potable water for delivering water to households and for fire fighting purposes. The tanker is available only for use by Fire Departments within the Municipality.

Water Supply Upgrade – Lending Program By-law
The Water Supply Upgrade – Lending Program By-Law makes provision for an owner of a Qualifying Property located within the Municipality of Barrington to apply to the Municipality for financing of a Water Supply Upgrade to the property.
A Water Supply Upgrade could include the construction of a new dug or drilled well or an upgrade to an existing well that is required to source water for the property. Upgrades may also include the installation of cisterns, water from fog systems, greywater collection or other containers that are installed for the purpose of the supply, use and conservation of water.
For more information on this program, please call the Municipal Office at 902-637-2015.
